Parishioners were given
the opportunity to stroll around the garden, which Poppy and her
husband (the Under Gardener) have tended for many years, in aid of
the Bangor Abbey Church Choir trip to sing in Kilkenny Cathedral in
August 2011.
Poppy writes a gardening
page in the church magazine, and reports on her successes and
failures throughout the year. Her real name has been a topic
of speculation for some time, but she ‘came out’ to boost the funds
for the choir.
Guests enjoyed some
welcome sunshine along with tea, coffee, cream scones and tray
bakes. There was an excellent cake stall and a plant stall where
they could buy many of the plants growing in the garden.
The Open Garden raised
£777 towards the trip.
