The new Bangor Abbey Parish Centre was opened on Saturday 21 January 2012 by Mrs Carole Nesbitt and dedicated by the Bishop of Down and Dromore, The Rt. Rev. Harold Miller.

A Message from the Rector

 

Dear friends,
Fifty years ago
this Parish undertook the enormous task of renovating Bangor Abbey which had fallen into severe disrepair.  At a time of great austerity and of limited means they completed the refurbishing of the church and left a legacy which we continue to enjoy.

Building Together for Rwanda

Linked with our work to build for the future in Bangor, we aim to provide at least £25,000 to support two programmes in the Anglican diocese of Kibungo, on the eastern border of Rwanda.
Rwanda suffered a genocide in 1994, with nearly one million people losing their lives in 100 days

How you can play your part

The total fund raising target for the ‘Building together for the future’ project – including the Rwanda element – has been set at £750,000.  At present we have £275,000 which leaves us with £475,000 to raise to complete the project. £8,000 will be required on a monthly basis to clear this amount within five years.  So how can we raise the remainder of the funds required?      +more

Fundraising Programme

We want to continue to build on the successful fundraising programme for the Parish Centre that has taken place to date.   A small group exists to help facilitate the fund raising activities.  The facilitators are: Marzie Reid, Fiona Barton, Stephen Jamieson, Alan Barton, Richard Lusty and Lyzan Martin.
